Notify NYC Alert: Due to a crane collapse at 157 West 57th Street in Manhattan, all occupants of buildings on West 57th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues must immediately move to the lower floors of your building and make contact with your building safety representative. Citizens are advised to avoid this area. Follow instructions of emergency personnel.

In addition, here is the expected day by day breakdown of “Frankenstorm” (that’s what some ppl are calling it, I like it so let’s roll with it)

Sunday afternoon: Bands of showers develop, with wind gusts increasing to 45 mph.

Sunday evening: Rains grow heavier, especially south of the city. The winds become quite gusty, up to 50 mph. Expect coastal flooding at high tide.

Monday morning: Heavy rain, winds gusting up to 60 mph. Severe coastal flooding at high tide.

Monday afternoon - evening: Wind gusts of 60 to 80 mph, with major to extreme coastal flooding at high tide. Widespread power outages are expected.

Tuesday morning: Heavy rain and strong wind. Damage still possible during this phase of the storm.

Tuesday evening: Conditions gradually better but still rainy and breezy.

The biggest concern for New Yorkers will be power outages and inland flooding from storm surge. So stay safe everyone and God Bless you all.

New York mass transit to shut down in preparation for Sandy

NBC New York: New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has announced that subways, buses and commuter rails will begin shutting down at 7 p.m. Sunday. Bridges and tunnels will close on a “case by case basis.”

The announcement comes as Hurricane Sandy roars towards the Northeast US; it is expected to make landfall early Tuesday near the southern New Jersey coast.

Final MTA and LIRR trains 7 PM. In addition, last MTA buses 9PM tonight.

Embrace a perfect love

People are afraid of love. Romantic love, or even God’s love seems overwhelming at times. We’re afraid of never finding love, we’re afraid of losing love when we do find it, and we’re afraid of how that love will change us, as it continues to hang around.

How ironic that 1 John 4:18 says, “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.”

When you read the word “perfect” in that passage, it comes from a Greek word -teleios- that refers to something that was laid out, and then completed, like running a race course to the finish line. This word teleios would be stamped on documents to show that a debt was owed, and then was paid on full.

Teleios was the last word Jesus said on the cross.
